[Movie Review] - Priest

Nuffnang Premiere Screening – Priest
Date: 10 May 2011 (Tuesday)
Time: 9.00pm
Venue: GSC MidValley

Synopsis:

PRIEST, a post-apocalyptic action thriller, is set in an alternate world — one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary Warrior Priest (Paul Bettany) from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece (Lily Collins) is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on an obsessive quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend (Cam Gigandet), a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess (Maggie Q) who possesses otherworldly fighting skills.

My Verdict: 3.5/5

A vampire flick with a twist. Church versus own self believe. It's amazing how people uses God's name to rein supremacy over the people and the world. This movie evolves around warriors in the form of priests that no longer are needed by the Church to battle-off vampires. The thing is.. the vampires doesn't take the form of a human being at all. Just some faceless monsters with lots of saliva that gets kicks by eating human flesh.

But since the world is such a wasteland, the church has built a city behind tall, solid walls to keep the people from going out.. or from going in. Only people who have faith in the God that the Church has painted are able to live within the walls. Anyone against their gods are left outside.

Another good review could be read here.
